JAWS for Windows 4.5 Release Download
Below
is a link to download JAWS for Windows 4.5 Release. Before downloading
you should read the following information regarding installation concerns.
- IMPORTANT! If you had previously installed a JAWS 4.5 Public Beta,
we request that you uninstall this version before installing the new
Release. You should do the uninstall by going through: Start Menu, Programs,
JAWS450. Tools, Uninstall JAWS. If you are asked, about leaving or removing
shared components, you should choose leave so that your earlier version
of JAWS will still work after you finish the uninstall. Once this is
complete, you can proceed with the install of JAWS 4.5.
- If you have installed a previous JAWS 4.5 Beta version, it will time
out on or before September 30, 2002. You will need to update to a new
version of JAWS 4.5 to continue beyond that date.
- JAWS 4.5 will install by default into its own folder, c:\JAWS450,
and will not interfere with other versions of JAWS on your system.
- Freedom Scientific is working closely with other Access Technology
Vendors and Microsoft in order to insure installation compatibility
in Windows NT 4, W2K and XP. This work and the subsequent testing has
not yet been completed and and therefore this work has not been included
in any of the major products released at the time of this posting. Because
of this, we do not recommend installing multiple screen readers and
magnification products from different vendors, especially with Beta
Software on your computer operating systems including NT4, W2K, and
XP. Previous versions of JAWS or MAGic magnification software should
not cause any issues with this Release of JAWS 4.5.. If you are installing
in Windows 95, 98, or ME, you should not have any installation conflicts
with other products.
- If installing to Windows NT4, W2K, or XP, administrative rights are
required for installation only.
